Description

Funded in 2004, the HSTM herbarium is a regional collection, holding mainly specimens from western Pará state regions. The collection is also quite important for Solanaceae and Ferns and lycophytes, due to material exchange with other herbaria from Brazil and abroad. The collection database is fully available online, through JABOT resource (hstm.jrbj.gov.br) and images are available for more than 2/3 of the specimens (almost 14.000 in august 2021). It is a reference collection for protected areas such as Floresta Nacional do Tapajós and Parque Nacional da Amazônia. Twelve types are currently held at HSTM, mainly isotypes and paratypes.

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 17,390 records.

Geographic Coverage

Mainly western Pará state; it is a reference collection for two Amazonian protected areas: Floresta Nacional do Tapajós and Parque Nacional da Amazônia.
