The Herbarium Uberlandense (HUFU) was established in 1981 to house samples of the local flora. Since 2004, it has been recognized by the Federal University of Uberlândia as a complementary unit of the Institute of Biology, playing a role in teaching, research, and extension activities. Currently, it holds approximately 80,760 specimens collected from various locations in the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás or received as donations from national and international herbaria. Botanical collections have been conducted mainly in protected areas near Uberlândia, such as the Panga Ecological Reserve, the RPPN Clube Caça e Pesca Itororó, and the Glória Experimental Farm. Other significant collections come from the RPPN Galheiro da CEMIG (Perdizes), the Serra da Canastra National Park (São Roque de Minas, Delfinópolis, and Capitólio), the Biribiri State Park and surroundings (Diamantina), the Serra dos Pirineus State Park and surroundings (Corumbá de Goiás, Cocalzinho de Goiás, and Pirenópolis), and the Serra Dourada State Park (Mossâmedes, Cidade de Goiás, and Buriti de Goiás), all in the state of Goiás. HUFU has a significant collection of specimens from the Asteraceae, Melastomataceae, and Poaceae families. Currently, almost the entire collection is digitized and available through the Reflora Virtual Herbarium (https://reflora.jbrj.gov.br/) and speciesLink (https://specieslink.net/).

Desde 2004 é reconhecido pela Universidade Federal de Uberlândia como órgão complementar do Instituto de Biologia, atuando nas atividades de ensino, pesquisa e extensão. Atualmente abriga aproximadamente 80.760 amostras coletadas em diversas localidades do estado de Minas Gerais e Goiás ou recebidas como doação de herbários nacionais e estrangeiros. Coleções botânicas feitas principalmente na Reserva Ecológica do Panga, na RPPN Clube Caça e Pesca Itororó, na Fazenda Experimental do Glória, todas áreas protegidas próximas ao município de Uberlândia; na RPPN Galheiro da CEMIG, município de Perdizes; no Parque Nacional da Serra da Canastra, municípios de São Roque de Minas, Delfinópolis e Capitólio; no Parque Estadual do Biribiri e arredores, município de Diamantina; no Parque Estadual da Serra dos Pirineus e entorno, municípios de Corumbá de Goiás, Cocalzinho de Goiás e Pirenópolis e no Parque Estadual da Serra Dourada, municípios de Mossâmedes, Cidade de Goiás e Buriti de Goiás, ambos no estado de Goiás. Apresenta um acervo expressivo de representantes das famílias Asteraceae, Melastomataceae e Poaceae. Atualmente, praticamente todo o acervo encontra-se digitalizado e disponível no Herbário Virtual Reflora (https://reflora.jbrj.gov.br/) e no speciesLink (https://specieslink.net/).
