Description

Herbarium Collection of the São Paulo University\Brazil. The SPF herbarium collection constitutes the basis of much of the research performed at the Botany Department from IB-USP, housing more than 220,000 specimens and 900 nomenclatural types, especially of plants from the Espinhaço Range and from Central Brazil mountains.

Other prominent collections are those associated with the taxonomic groups with experts in the Institution: Brasilian Marine Algae, Annonaceae, Bignoniaceae, Eriocaulaceae, Picramniaceae, Rutaceae, Simaroubaceae and Velloziaceae. In particular, the collections of Brasilian Marine Algae, Eriocaulaceae and Velloziaceae are among the best in the world.
