Description

O Herbário do Departamento de Botânica da UFRRJ, registrado no Index Herbariorum com a sigla RBR, foi fundado em 1916. Atualmente engloba ca. de 40.000 espécimes, predominantemente de angiospermas, seguido por pteridófitas. O acervo encontra-se dividido em coleções: uma coleção geral (35.620), coleção etnobotânica (780), coleção de plantas apícolas (200), coleção de plantas da Marambaia - RJ (2.800) e da Reserva Biológica do Tinguá - RJ (1.600). Possui cerca de 150 tipos nomenclaturais. Seu papel é vital para os esforços globais de catalogar a biodiversidade e mitigar sua perda.
