Description

O Herbário UFG foi fundado em 1968 pelo Prof. José Ângelo Rizzo e seus colegas de instituição, os Professores José Salum e José Alberto Centeno e se encontra registrado no Index Herbariorum. Em 2005 o Herbário UFG foi credenciado como fiel depositário de amostras componentes do patrimônio genético, conforme a deliberação n. 120, publicado no Diário Oficial da União n. 169 de 01 de setembro de 2005. Em 2013 foi inaugurada a nova sede do Herbário UFG que compreende coleções científicas e históricas, oriundas da coleta de respeitáveis naturalistas e pesquisadores, provenientes de diferentes formações vegetais. A coleção está atualmente constituída por cerca de 70 mil espécimes vegetais Fanerogâmicas e Criptogâmicas, além de outras coleções como as de Cactos fixados em meio líquido e Carpoteca.
