Description
The Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo herbarium (VIES), its collection area and type specimens, as well as its contributions to the flora of the Atlantic Forest are presented here. The VIES herbarium currently has nearly 50,000 records of vascular plants, besides fungi, bryophytes and algae, collected mainly in Espirito Santo state. Every collection is computerized and available online, and more than 4,300 scanned images. There are 39 type specimens among them: 11 holotypes, five isotypes and 23 paratypes. The VIES offers support to several projects developed by students and researchers of UFES and of other institutions, and it makes material exchange with numerous herbaria.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 61,429 records.
2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
