Description

The Ezechias Paulo Heringer Herbarium (HEPH) was transferred to the Brasília Botanical Garden in 1984. Professor Ezechias Paulo Heringer was responsible for the first specimens deposited in the herbarium. In 1989, HEPH was officially recognized in the Index Herbariorum and registered under the acronym HEPH. Since 2008, it has been accredited as a trusted depository herbarium. The HEPH collection primarily consists of Cerrado plants, providing valuable data for research in various fields, including Plant Morphology, Taxonomy, Phylogeny, Anatomy, and Ecology. Several researchers have made significant contributions to the development of this important collection, notably Professor Ezechias Paulo Heringer and Dr. Cilúlia Maury. The exchange of scientific material is conducted with national and international institutions through loans, donation-for-identification programs (where duplicate plant specimens are exchanged for their taxonomic identification), and reciprocal exchanges (trading duplicate specimens for duplicates of other plant species). The most well-represented taxonomic groups in the collection include Orchidaceae, Poaceae, Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Malpighiaceae, Myrtaceae, and Rubiaceae. In addition to the herbarium collection, HEPH also houses a fruit and seed collection (carpotheca), a wood collection (xylotheca), and a pollen slide collection (palynotheca).

#--------------------

Vários pesquisadores realizaram importantes coletas e contribuíram para a formação deste importante acervo, dentre eles o Prof. Ezechias Paulo Heringer e a Dra Cilúlia Maury.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 28,695 records.

2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
