Description
The Southern Amazon Herbarium (HERBAM) encompasses the flora of the Amazon within the deforestation arc and conservation unit corridor. It holds 10,000 curated specimens, making it the largest collection in the state of Mato Grosso's Amazon region. HERBAM was established at the Alta Floresta University Campus on March 15, 2007, and was officially registered in the Brazilian Herbarium Network on March 27, 2007. Its initial infrastructure (25 m²) was funded by the Mato Grosso State Research Support Foundation (FAPEMAT) through the PPP 0007/2006 call (Programa Primeiros Projetos), with resources from CETAM (Southern Amazon Technology Center). HERBAM is located in the northern region of Mato Grosso, where various forest typologies occur, including Dense and Open Ombrophilous Forests, Cerrado, Campinaranas, and Rocky Fields of the Amazon. The collection currently holds 7,000 vouchers from northern Mato Grosso and southern Pará, particularly from the Teles Pires and Cristalino river basins. These specimens originate from municipalities such as Alta Floresta, Novo Mundo, Colíder, Nova Canaã, Paranaíta, Apiacás, Sinop, Itaúba, Claúdia, Ipiranga do Norte (MT), and Jacareacanga (PA). HERBAM is part of the project “Floristic Biodiversity of the Southern Amazon – BIOFLORA,” in collaboration with KEW and under the coordination of RB. It also participates in the INCT Virtual Herbarium and research networks such as REFLORA, BIONORTE, PPBIO, and the Mato Grosso Biodiversity and Biotechnology Network (RBBioMT/FINEP). Additionally, it carries out the Flora Rescue Project for the Colíder Hydroelectric Plant (COPEL). HERBAM’s research and outreach activities are supported by various projects led by its curator and assisted by a team of 16 people, including CNPq fellows (DTI, AT/PPBio/REFLORA), SECITEC/UNEMAT undergraduate researchers, private sector-funded interns (Pousada Mantega), volunteers, and temporary technicians hired through research projects.

Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 6,222 records.
2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
