HRCB herbarium - Universidade Estadual Paulista - Herbário Virtual REFLORA

The Rioclarense Herbarium (HRCB) is part of the Institute of Biosciences at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Rio Claro campus. It was officially founded on June 23, 1977, by Prof. Dr. Giorgio de Marinis, who also became its first curator. In August 1978, the Rioclarense Herbarium obtained its international registration with the International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT), under the acronym HRCB. The current curator is Prof. Dr. Pedro Luís Rodrigues de Moraes. The HRCB primarily houses collections of Phanerogams and Pteridophytes and is one of the most important plant collections in the state of São Paulo, with over 80,000 specimens. Some notable collections within its archive include: “Flora of the Picinguaba Coastal Plain, Ubatuba” collection; the historical collection of Father José Pivetta; Specimens from the Cerrado and forested areas of the region, particularly from Itirapina and Corumbataí; and duplicates of specific taxa received from Brazilian and international herbaria, including Celastraceae, Bignoniaceae, Nyctaginaceae, Styracaceae, Vitaceae, and Lauraceae.

O Herbário Rioclarense (HRCB) pertence ao Instituto de Biociências da Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), campus de Rio Claro, e foi oficialmente fundado em 23 de junho de 1977, pelo Prof. Dr. Giorgio de Marinis, que se tornou também seu primeiro curador. Em agosto de 1978, o Herbário Rioclarense obteve seu registro internacional junto à International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT), com a sigla HRCB. Atualmente a curadoria do herbário é do Prof. Dr. Pedro Luís Rodrigues de Moraes. O HRCB guarda em seu acervo coleções principalmente de Fanerógamas e Pteridófitas, e consiste em uma das mais importantes coleções de plantas do Estado de São Paulo, com mais de 80 mil exsicatas. Dentro deste acervo, algumas coleções destacam-se pela importância, tais como: coleção da - “Flora da Planície Litorânea de Picinguaba, Ubatuba -” ; a coleção histórica do - Padre José Pivetta - ; as coletas dos cerrados e florestas da região, principalmente de - Itirapina e Corumbataí - ; e duplicatas de determinados táxons recebidos de herbários brasileiros e do exterior, como Celastraceae, Bignoniaceae, Nyctaginaceae, Styracaceae, Vitaceae e Lauraceae.
