Description
O herbário "William Antonio Rodrigues" (UPCB) foi fundado em 1946 e atualmente é vinculado ao Departamento de Botânica da UFPR. Possui ca. de 110.000 espécimes de plantas, algas e fungos, oferecendo base para pesquisas realizadas por docentes e alunos de mestrado e doutorado principalmente dos cursos de Pós-Graduação em Botânica e em Ecologia e Conservação. Além dos estudos voltados à biodiversidade, o Herbário é também fiel depositário de amostras utilizadas em estudos bioquímicos e farmacológicos, atendendo pesquisadores de diversos departamentos da UFPR, principalmente os de Química, Farmacologia e Bioquímica. O Herbário UPCB mantem uma ativa colaboração com outras Instituições do Brasil e do exterior, mantendo intercâmbios com mais de 30 Universidades brasileiras e mais de 10 Instituições de pesquisa do exterior.
