The Herbarium of the Department of Botany at UFRRJ, internationally recognized by the acronym RBR, was founded in 1916, initially functioning as a division of the Higher School of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (ESAMEV), now the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). Its establishment is attributed to Ezequiel Cândido de Souza Brito, a professor in the Agricultural Botany sector of ESAMEV. The RBR collection is registered in the Index Herbariorum (http://sweetgum.nybg.org/science/ih/), the Brazilian Herbarium Network of the Brazilian Botanical Society (https://www.botanica.org.br/catalogo-da-rede-brasileira-de-herbarios/), and the Collection and Archive Coordination Unit (NAAC – PROEXT - UFRRJ). Additionally, RBR is involved in major digitization and data-sharing projects, making its records accessible worldwide. Its specimens can be accessed through the Virtual Herbarium of the Flora and Fungi of Brazil(https://specieslink.net/search/) under the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT), as well as through its own database (http://rbr.jbrj.gov.br). Currently, the RBR houses approximately 55,000 specimens, including type specimens, some of which were collected by traveling naturalists in the 19th century, such as Arsène Puttemans (1873–1937). The collection primarily consists of specimens from the Southeastern region of Brazil.

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables.
The core data table contains 2,805 records.
2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
